Three Community Natural Resource Committees (CNRC) started in September 2003 within the Prince George Timber Supply Area – Fort St. James, Prince George, and Vanderhoof. The CNRC were established to provide the public with opportunities to enhance their understanding of our natural resources and establish a forum for dialogue between resource managers and the public. Several Forest Companies, BC Timber Sales, McGregor Model Forest Association and Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management support the CNRCs.
The CNRC Organizing Committee believed CNRCs would compliment existing Land & Resource Management Plan (LRMP) groups and Public Advisory Groups (PAGs). The PAGs were to provide opportunities for the public to be involved in Sustainable Forestry Management Plans (SFMPs).
