Over the course of the 2003-04 year, CNRC members expressed concerns over the potential impact CNRCs may have on existing LRMP processes. The Organizing Committee followed the desires of the groups and kept the processes separate. At the end of the fourth CNRC meeting in March 2004, participants provided valuable feedback.

CNRC members appreciated and wanted:

  • To be proactively involved early in planning processes.

  • To ensure that tenure holders (outside of timber tenures) are kept informed and their rights respected.

  • More opportunities during meetings for discussion and feedback.

  • Continued accurate, detailed, and timely information on issues related to resource management, including biodiversity, the new Forest and Range Practices Act, and the Mountain Pine Beetle epidemic.
